Ali McMordie was in a band called Friction Groove, which released one album. Ali wrote the song Jerusalem on Sinead O'Connor's The Lion and the Cobra album. He was also an organizer of the Peace Together project, which released the compilation cd Peace Together to benefit the youth of Northern Ireland. The album includes Peter Gabriel, Therapy?, Sinead O'Conner, U2 with Lou Reed, My Bloody Valentine, and many others.

Dolphin Taylor was in the Tom Robinson Band before joining SLF. During the split, he drummed for Spear of Destiny. He's also done a lot of studio work for other artists.
